J&K, Ladakh Report 417 TB Deaths in 2024, Govt Intensifies Efforts

Jammu, Mar 29 (KNS): Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh recorded a total of 417 tuberculosis (TB) deaths in 2024, as per data presented by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in the Lok Sabha. The figures include 408 deaths in J&K and 9 in Ladakh.

India has seen a 17.7% decline in TB incidence, dropping from 237 cases per 100,000 population in 2015 to 195 per 100,000 in 2023. Despite this progress, eliminating TB by 2025 remains a challenge, particularly in regions like J&K and Ladakh, where geographical constraints, limited healthcare access, and harsh winters disrupt treatment.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The central and UT governments are ramping up efforts to strengthen TB detection and treatment. However, experts stress the importance of early diagnosis, better access to medicines, and improved healthcare infrastructure to meet the 2025 TB elimination target. (KNS)
