Calls for Collaborative Efforts to Combat Drug Abuse

 Srinagar, October 30 (KNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah emphasized the importance of restoring the dignity of Jammu and Kashmir citizens, stating that they should have the first rights to land, jobs, and resources.

Speaking at his first interaction with Civil Society members at SKICC, omar said that there is growing problem of drug abuse and called for collaboration with religious leaders and civil society to combat this issue.

Omar said that Jammu and Kashmir has recently regained an elected government, marking a significant change from the past.

“We all deserve to live a dignified life. Basic services like roads, electricity, and water mean little without respect.” He assured attendees that his administration would fight for their rights.

After meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other ministers in New Delhi, Omar said he received assurances that positive measures for J&K would be taken.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He said that the J&K still requires guidance in sectors like horticulture and power, aiming for eventual self-sufficiency.

Speaking on issue of drug abuse, Omar said that there is significant rise in substance abuse among the youth today, including heroin and brown sugar. He called for the establishment of more Drug De-Addiction Centers across J&K and urged religious leaders and civil society to work with the government to address this crisis.

Omar said that at the next meeting with Civil Society members, he would present Action Taken Reports on the issues discussed.(KNS)
