Srinagar, April 26 (KNS): In a significant step toward prioritizing mental health in education, Kashmir Welfare Trust (KWT) and Bilaliya Educational Institute (BEI), in collaboration with SAWAB (Supporting Always Wholeheartedly All Broken-hearted), launched Mission Shafaqat — a comprehensive initiative aimed at promoting mental well-being among students.
Mission Shafaqat seeks to empower students to face academic and personal challenges with confidence, resilience, and emotional strength. A high-level session was held at BEI on April 26, 2025, bringing together psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, educators, and community stakeholders. The session was presided over by renowned mental health expert Prof. (Dr.) Mushtaq Ahmad Margoob.
Key outcomes included the launch of weekly professional counselling sessions every Saturday at 4 PM and the formation of an intersectoral pilot team to assess students’ emotional, psychological, and social needs. Evidence-based interventions will be developed for broader implementation across schools in the region.(KNS)
