Kulgam, Mar 04 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday said that it has arrested an individual and recovered fake Indian currency notes from his possession in Kulgam district of South Kashmir.
Police in a statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), said that a police party from Police Post Mirbazar headed by IC PP Mirbazar established a checkpoint on NHW 44 near Manigam crossing and during checking one suspicious person was signalled to stop.
"However, he tried to escape from the spot but was tactfully chased and apprehended by the alert party," the police said and identified him as Khurshid Ahmad Naik son of Mohammad Maqbool Naik resident of Waripora, Kund.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
During search, the police said officers were able to recover 37 counterfeit currency notes of ?500 from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Post Mirbazar.
"Accordingly, a case FIR No. 31/2023 U/S 489B, 489C IPC has been registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation into the matter has been initiated," the police added.(KNS)
