LG Sinha Invites Omar Abdullah to Form Govt in J&K, Oath Ceremony on Oct 16


Srinagar, Oct 14(KNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has invited Omar Abdullah, Leader of the Legislature Party of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, to form the new government in the J&K.

This invitation follows letters of support from various political leaders, including Dr. Farooq Abdullah and members of the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee, the CPI(M), the Aam Aadmi Party, and several independent MLAs.

In his letter, Sinha expressed his pleasure at Abdullah's unanimous election and confirmed the administration of the Oath of Office and Secrecy, scheduled for 16 October 2024 at SKICC, Srinagar.

"I have received a letter of 11th October, 2024 from Dr. Farooq Abdullah, President, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, wherein it has been informed that you have been unanimously elected as Leader of the Legislature Party," reads a letter from Raj Bhavan to Omar Abdullah.

"I have also, received a letter from Shri Tariq Hameed Karra, President, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee, Shri G. N. Malik, Secretary, CPI(M), Shri Pankaj Kumar Gupta, National Secretary, Aam Aadmi Party and Independent MLAs namely, Shri Payare Lal Sharma, Satish Sharma, Ch.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelMohd. Akram, Dr. Rameshwar Singh and Muzafar Iqbal Khan, offering support in the formation of Government led by you," it reads.

"I am pleased to invite you to form and lead the Government of Jammu and Kashmir," it added.

"As separately settled, I shall administer Oath of Office and Secrecy to you, and to those recommended by you for induction as members of your Council of Ministers, at SKICC, Srinagar on 16th October, 2024 at 11:30 a.m.

I take this opportunity to wish you a highly productive tenure and success in your endeavours in the best interest of the people of Jammu and Kashmir," it added.

Jammu and Kashmir will have an elected government for the first time in 10 years, following the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. The J&K Assembly elections took place in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1.

In J&K's 90 assembly seats, the NC and Congress have won in 48, the BJP in 29 and the PDP in three. AAP's Mehraj Malik has handed the Arvind Kejriwal-led party its first-ever electoral win in Jammu and Kashmir.(KNS).
