Ramban, Sep 12( KNS): Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Sunil Sharma visited Rajgarh in Ramban district to assess the situation following the cloudburst that struck the area on August 30, leaving five dead and several families affected.
The cloudburst triggered sudden flash floods and mudslides, causing extensive damage to homes, farmlands, and local infrastructure.
During his visit, Sharma met with bereaved families, offered condolences, and assured them of all possible support for recovery.
“We stand firmly with every family affected by this disaster,” Sharma said, urging the government to ensure swift and adequate relief. He also assured that he would personally follow up to ensure that promises are implemented.
Sharma was accompanied by senior district administration officials, police officers, and local BJP leaders, who briefed him on ongoing rescue, relief, and rehabilitation operations. The LoP interacted with local residents, social workers, and political leaders to understand their concerns and suggestions regarding the restoration of basic services, including water, electricity, road connectivity, and education infrastructure disrupted by the disaster.
Stressing the need for better preparedness in vulnerable hilly regions, Sharma highlighted the importance of installing early warning systems and strengthening disaster response mechanisms to mitigate future losses. He urged both the UT administration and the Central Government to extend all necessary support for rebuilding the affected areas.
Sharma also emphasized the need for long-term rehabilitation measures, including livelihood restoration and psychosocial support, to ensure comprehensive recovery for the affected population.
He reaffirmed his commitment to stand by the people of Rajgarh and to ensure their concerns are represented at every level of government.(KNS).
