Says Exit of Non-Local Workers Will Send Wrong Message

Srinagar, Oct 22(KNS): PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti has raised concerns over reports that the local administration is pressuring non-local laborers to leave Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Sonamarg, which left seven people dead.

In a social media post, Mufti acknowledged the understandable fear among the laborers but criticized the decision, stating that forcing them to leave would only exacerbate the situation and send a negative message. She warned that such actions could undermine the peaceful and terror-free elections recently held in the region, potentially leading to backlash against Kashmiris working and studying in other states.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Mufti called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene and ensure that non-local workers are given adequate time to make arrangements. She emphasized that this knee-jerk reaction would only create more difficulties and harm the region’s image(KNS).
