New Delhi, July 24 (KNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will, on Friday, surpass Indira Gandhi to become India’s second longest-serving prime minister in an unbroken term.
With 4,078 days in office, Modi will move past Gandhi’s record of 4,077 consecutive days, set between January 1966 and March 1977. The top spot is still held by Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first prime minister, who remains the longest-serving in a single stretch.
Modi, the first post-Independence-born prime minister, has already equaled Nehru’s feat of steering his party to three straight Lok Sabha victories.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelBefore taking charge at the Centre in 2014, Modi served as Gujarat’s chief minister from 2001, making him the country’s longest-serving elected leader when both state and national tenures are combined.
