Srinagar April 03 (KNS): All Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association (AJKSA) President and Senior General Secretary of J&K Peoples Conference (JKPC), Molvi Imran Ansari, has strongly opposed the Waqf Amendment Bill passed yesterday , calling it a direct attack on religious freedom and the fundamental rights of the Muslim community.
Taking to Twitter, Molvi Imran Ansari expressed his strong disapproval, stating, “We vehemently oppose the Waqf Amendment Bill, a clear assault on religious freedom and community rights. It paves the way for state overreach into sacred spaces.” He further quoted a famous philosopher, emphasizing, ”‘All our knowledge begins with the senses, proceeds then to the understanding, and ends with reason.’ This bill defies reason, eroding trust and justice. We stand united against it.”
Molvi Imran Ansari reiterated that the Waqf properties have historically been under the care of the Muslim community, serving religious, educational, and social purposes. Any state interference in these matters is an unjustified intrusion into sacred institutions that belong to the Ummah.
He further added that Shia and Sunni communities alike have depended on Waqf institutions for centuries, and any attempt to centralize control over these properties would weaken their autonomy.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe warned that the move could lead to widespread dissatisfaction among the faithful, eroding the trust between the community and the administration.
“Islamic teachings emphasize the sanctity of endowments (Waqf) and their exclusive use for the welfare of the community. Any attempt to alter this fundamental principle contradicts the spirit of Islamic governance and justice,” he said.
Molvi Imran Ansari also called upon all religious scholars, community leaders to rise above partisan lines and collectively resist this decision. He asserted that the government must reconsider its decision and engage in a meaningful dialogue with Muslim representatives to ensure that the sanctity of Waqf properties remains intact.
Molvi Imran Ansari assured the Muslim community that the fight against this Bill will continue through legal and democratic means to ensure that the Waqf institutions remain in the hands of those they were meant for—the Muslim community.(KNS)
