National Conference rejected two-nation theory in 1947: Sadhotra

JAMMU JANUARY 11 (KNS):  Observing that the religion based politics is against the idea of India, National Conference Additional General Secretary and former Minister Mr Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today recalled the conscious and sagacious decision of the people of Jammu and Kashmir aligning with Mahatma Gandhi’s secular India by rejecting the two nation theory during the partition in 1947.

Addressing a day long Convention at Gharota in Nagrota Assembly Constituency, organised by District President National Conference Jammu Rural-A Raghubir Singh Manhas and Joginder Singh (Kaku), Mr Sadhotra said that his party remains committed to Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a secular India.

“National Conference has always stood for unity, harmony, and safeguarding
the rights of all communities”, Mr Sadhotra said and referred to the legacy of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, saying that in 1947, when communal violence engulfed the subcontinent, the towering leader of the time stood like a rock to protect the minorities in Jammu and Kashmir. His leadership and vision ensured the safety and dignity of all communities, showcasing the essence of pluralism and harmony that the National Conference represents, he
added.

Sadhotra lambasted the attempts to tag the National Conference with any specific religion or region, calling such efforts a disservice to the rich pluralistic fabric of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that the party has always represented the collective aspirations of all communities, transcending religious and regional divides.

Former Minister asserted that the National Conference firmly rejects divisive politics and believes that the country’s progress and prosperity depend on taking all sections of society along.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThis is the hallmark of the party’s policies that have always been rooted in the principles of democracy, equality, and fraternity, he added.

concern over the growing trend of intolerance, Mr Sadhotra criticised the BJP for sowing the seeds of mistrust among communities for realising its political agenda. He stressed that such divisive policies threaten the unity and progress of the nation. He said those practising religion based politics were actually using religion for furthering their petty political agenda.

National Conference, which remains steadfast in its mission for the welfare and peace of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He also asked them to fan out in their areas and carry the message of peace, unity and amity, which forms
