Nehru Simply Refuses to Go Away”: Congress Pays Tributes on His Death Anniversary

New Delhi, May 27 (KNS) : The Congress on Tuesday paid glowing tributes to India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, on his 61st death anniversary, calling him the architect of modern India and a guiding light for the nation’s democratic values.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, former party chief Rahul Gandhi, and Congress Parliamentary Party leader Sonia Gandhi led the tributes, with floral homage at Nehru’s memorial, Shanti Van.

In a powerful post, Congress communications chief Jairam Ramesh said Nehru "simply refuses to go away" despite a systematic “6D effort” since 2014 to “defame, distort, deny, denigrate, diminish, and demolish” his legacy.

Rahul Gandhi remembered Nehru as a visionary who laid the foundation of a strong, inclusive India. “His contribution in the establishment of social justice, modernity, education, Constitution, and democracy is invaluable,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Congress chief Kharge hailed Nehru as the “creator of modern India” and praised his role in making India a scientific, economic, and democratic force. “21st century India cannot be imagined without Nehru’s contribution,” he said.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also paid homage, sharing Nehru’s belief that “What we think today and what we do, creates tomorrow’s India,” and highlighted his efforts in building institutions that remain the pillars of India's progress.

The Congress party, through its official social media account, saluted Nehru’s ideals of democracy, secularism, and scientific temper, saying they continue to guide the country forward.
