NLCO Urges Eco-Friendly Eid-ul-Adha, Calls for Responsible Waste Disposal

Srinagar, June 06 (KNS): As Eid-ul-Adha begins, the Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO) has appealed to the public to celebrate the festival with both devotion and environmental responsibility.

In a message to the community, NLCO Chairman Haji Manzoor Wangnoo said,
“This Eid, let us not just sacrifice with sincerity — but preserve with purpose. Protecting our water bodies is part of honoring His creation.”

To support this vision, NLCO has launched an Eco-Friendly Eid-ul-Adha Campaign, urging citizens to:

Use only designated collection points for animal remains

Coordinate with the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) for scientific waste disposal

Avoid dumping waste in drains, open fields, or waterbodies

The campaign is backed by an active network of NLCO volunteers available across Dal, Nigeen, Gilsar, and Khushalsar lakes, offering guidance and support during the three days of Eid.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

“This campaign is not just a call — it’s a reminder,” the organisation said in a statement. “Our lakes are not dumping grounds; they are a reflection of our values and faith.”

Wangnoo concluded with a heartfelt message:
“May Allah accept our Qurbani — and the responsibility that comes with it.”
