Srinagar, Mar 12 (KNS): National Conference Vice-President and former chief minister J&K Omar Abdullah Tuesday said that notifying Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) before Lok Sabha election exposed ill-intent of BJP towards Muslims of the country.

Talking to reporters in Srinagar, Omar as per KNS said that Citizenship Amendment Act was passed by the Parliament in December 2019, but notifying the law before Lok Sabha polls speaks volumes about BJP's intention towards Muslims living in the country. He said BJP has always targeted Muslims and now it has played religious card ahead of Parliamentary elections to meet nefarious designs.

"BJP always targeted Muslims living in the country. In CAA the Muslims have been selectively targeted, and it is BJP's age-old tactic," Omar Abdullah as per KNS said.

He said after the completion of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, the BJP was asserting they will sweep over 400 seats in the country.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelNow the situation has made them realise that they will face wrath of people in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, due to which they notified CAA before elections to get votes on religious lines. He also said that BJP government gave gift to Muslims of the country ahead of Lok Sabha polls in shape of CAA.

To a query, Omar responded that party delegation led by Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani met Election Commission at SKICC and apprised them about the concerns of people who have been deprived from their elected representatives from a very long time. "NC during the meeting demanded simultaneous conduct of Parliamentary and Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Let's wait what decision ECI will take," Omar said. (KNS)
