Srinagar, Apr 09 (KNS): Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday blamed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the current situation in the region, stating that those who once aligned with the BJP and remained silent during critical periods are now questioning him over a photograph taken with a Union Minister.
Speaking to the media, Omar said, “The people targeting me for a picture with a Union Minister are the same ones who sat in BJP’s lap, spoke about milk and toffees, and silently watched the destruction of Jammu and Kashmir.”
He clarified that the photograph in question was taken during a visit to the Tulip Garden, where he had accompanied his father. “A Union Minister happened to be present and asked for a photo. Should I have refused or misbehaved? I simply took the picture,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Omar criticized the PDP for using the image to raise questions about his political stance, calling it unfair. “These are the same individuals who facilitated BJP’s entry into Jammu and Kashmir politics and have never apologized for the 2016 civilian killings,” he said.
The former CM also expressed regret that several important issues were passed in the Assembly in his absence. He said elected representatives are duty-bound to raise public concerns in the House. “If we don’t raise people’s issues in the Assembly, where else will we raise them?” he asked.
On the Waqf Amendment Bill, Omar said the National Conference would respond through its leadership or spokesperson at the appropriate time (KNS)
