Srinagar, June 20 (KNS) : On its 60th foundation day, All Jammu Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) said that it reiterates its pledge to continue to pursue the vision and mission of its founder leader Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq.
The statement issued to KNS reads: J&K AAC was formed on 20th of June 1964 by a young shaheed e Millat e Millat Mirwaiz Molvi Mohammad Farooq , as a representative forum for the realisation of the aspirations and will of the people of J&K in resolution of the Kashmir conflict. Throughout his brief but eventful life the shaheed leader strived with determination to realise this vision through peaceful and democratic means."
"Due to the current restrictions and gags , no foundation day functions could be held by the party carders either at the party headquarter Mirwaiz Manzil Rajouri Kadal ,or at any district and halqa offices, it added.
Party president Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s repeated house detention , restricting his movement and contact with people and media and disallowing his participation in any political activity also contributed to no function taking place, it added.
In his message to party leaders and cadres , Mirwaiz thanked them and said that despite facing harshness of the times , they have firmly stood by him and remained steadfast in their commitment to the party’s principles.

Paying tribute to the leaders , carders and activists of the organisation from shaheed e Millat to the present times , Mirwaiz Umar termed their contributions as unforgettable and valuable for the people of J&K , and said that all people associated with the organisation right from its inception have been on the basis of the party’s principles and ideology and not for any personal benefit or vested interest, which speaks volumes about their character and integrity., Statement further said.
"Recalling the shaheed founders services Mirwaz said that despite enduring imprisonments ,harassment and bars , he boldly and sincerely represented the aspirations of all people of J&K while advocating coexistence , goodwill , peace and dialogue till he achieved martyrdom in 1990," statement issued to KNS reads.
Mirwaiz said that it is incumbent upon his to carry forward the party’s unblemished legacy and advocate for dialogue and resolution, it added.
Mirwaz reiterated the demand for immediate release of all political leaders, activists, journalists, civil society members and youths, languishing in jails in Jammu and Kashmir and in outside prisons.(KNS)
