Srinagar, Dec 14 (KNS) : The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday organised a workers’ convention at Tujghari Mohalla, Khanyar, in downtown Srinagar.
According to a press release issued ,The convention was led by PDP General Secretary Mohammad Khursheed Aalam, with MLA Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra in attendance. Former state secretaries Arif Laigaroo, Hameed Kohsheen, Dr Ali Mohammad, Shokia Qurashi, and Media Coordinator Bashir Beigh were also present. The programme was organised by Sheikh Saba.
Addressing the gathering, PDP General Secretary Mohammad Khursheed Aalam said the party remains steadfast in safeguarding the rights and dignity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “PDP has always stood with the people in difficult times and will continue to raise its voice against injustice, misgovernance and the suppression of democratic rights,” he said, urging party workers to intensify grassroots-level public outreach.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra raised serious concerns over land rights and electricity issues affecting the people.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“The protection of land and resources of Jammu and Kashmir is a core issue. Any attempt to undermine land rights will be strongly resisted. At the same time, people are being burdened with inflated electricity bills despite facing prolonged power cuts,” Parra said, adding that PDP will continue to fight for affordable electricity and safeguard people’s ownership and livelihood rights.
Sheikh Saba, who organised the programme, said the convention was aimed at energising party workers in downtown areas. “Our workers are the backbone of PDP. Such conventions help us reconnect with the people and prepare collectively for future political challenges,” he said.
The convention was attended by PDP ,District Vice President Mohammad Shafi Kundangar, Khanyar Zonal President Mir Khalid, Sheikh Gowher, and several other senior party leaders and workers.(KNS)
