Jammu, Mar 30 (KNS): Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the Vande Bharat Express from Katra on April 19.
According to KNS correspondent, the train is originally intended to run between Jammu and Srinagar but will initially operate from Katra due to the ongoing renovation work at Jammu railway station.
Addressing concerns about the launch location, Dr. Singh clarified, "Some people have questioned why the inauguration is happening in Katra. Let me clarify that the train is meant to run from Jammu to Srinagar, but since Jammu railway station is under renovation, it will temporarily operate from Katra," he said according to KNS correspondent.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
In addition to launching the train service, PM Modi will also review the progress of the Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge, which is a key component of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project. The bridge is set to enhance connectivity and boost economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir, he added.
The introduction of the Vande Bharat Express is expected to reduce travel time between Jammu and Srinagar, offering a modern and efficient rail service for the region. Once the renovation of Jammu railway station is completed, the train will resume its planned route. (KNS).
