Jammu, Apr 28 (KNS): Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma on Monday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not stay silent over the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, assuring that a strong response would follow.
Speaking during a special session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sharma remarked that the entire nation is closely observing the House proceedings and every statement made by its members.
According to the Kashmir News Service (KNS), Sharma said Pakistan has long tried to propagate its narrative in Kashmir through a handful of miscreants. However, after 35 years, the people of Jammu and Kashmir have stood together to send a strong message that no divisive tactics will succeed.
Expressing grief over the Pahalgam attack, Sharma said, "It pains me deeply to see lives lost in a place known as paradise on earth. Such incidents shake the very soul of humanity." He added that while the people of J&K have shown remarkable unity, it is heartbreaking to face those who lost family members in the attack — including a woman who lost her husband and a boy who lost his father.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Sharma noted that the public’s emotional response — coming out on the streets and rejecting divisive agendas — has shown the resilience of the people after decades of turmoil. "We are being watched by the whole nation. Every word we speak carries immense responsibility," he said.
Emphasising the need to maintain unity, Sharma urged fellow legislators to safeguard the spirit of togetherness and ensure that no divisive force succeeds. He also called upon them to donate their salaries to support the victims' families.
Highlighting the central government's strong stand, Sharma said, "The Centre has already begun taking steps. I have full faith that the Prime Minister will not remain silent. We must wait patiently to see the course of action."
He further said that after being defeated thrice in wars, Pakistan has shifted its strategy to supporting disruptive elements within Kashmir, but the public’s response has frustrated those designs. (KNS)
