Srinagar, Oct 19 (KNS): In response to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's statement, where he said that Article 370 falls under the purview of the legislature while statehood lies with the government, Sajad Lone expressed sharp disapproval.
Omar had stated that this distinction was the reason why the statehood resolution has been prioritized.
Reacting to this, Lone described Abdullah's remarks as "yet another joke at the expense of the people of J&K."
He questioned the legal basis for such a distinction, asking, "Where is the legal demarcation for purviews?Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelWho made this legal distinction?"
Lone further said that Puducherry, a union territory with legislative powers, has already passed 15 similar resolutions, suggesting that J&K must push for a stronger collective case.
"This is not the time for grandstanding," Lone asserted, calling for unified efforts to address the concerns of the people of Jammu and Kashmir", he added.(KNS)
