Banihal April 30 (KNS): National Conference (NC) leader and district president, Ramban Mr Sajjad Shaheen today expressed deep concern over the massive damage caused to the residential houses and orchards in Banihal, Ramban and Gool due to ongoing incessant rains and hailstorm .
Shaheen said that the losses faced by the people are massive and Pogal-Paristan, Narad, Mundkhal, Maligam, Neel, Mahu-Mangit Banihal, Khari, Khawra, Parnote, Maitra, Trigam ,Chaknarwa ,Chamalwas, Amkote, Thachi, Hainjhal, Nowgam, Khairkoot ,Sarachi including the Gool, Ramban and Batote areas of Ramban district remained the worst affected wherein the damage caused to the residential houses and property are dozens in number.
He added , that in Parnote alone about one hundred houses have been severely damaged due to recent subsidence of land that that has rendered hundreds of people homeless.
He added that the fruit growers have been bearing the brunt of untimely snowfall and windstorm for the past several years and that the recent heavy downpour and hailstorms have only dashed the hopes of the profitable harvest for the orchardists.
“Our hearts go out to these families, and we urgently call upon the authorities to take immediate and appropriate measures to provide them with the necessary relief and support during this challenging time, he added.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He further said that the major link roads have been blocked due to land and mud sliding in the entire district including Neel -Chamalwas road, Nachlana-Mahoo -Mangit road, Ukharhal -Senabati road,
Ukharhal-Pogal-Maligam road, Banihal-Mangit road, Hewagan-Neel road, Tajnihal road , Ramban-Sangaldan -Gool road and many other roads.
“Rain and flood hit areas were without electricity for the last two to three days,” he added.
Asking the government to take immediate measures for the restoration and mitigation of the losses suffered by the people, Shaheen also appealed to the L/Governor lead government to direct the local administration to depute teams to assess the losses so that the damages caused by the rains and landslides to the residential houses and orchards could be assessed and financial assistance to the effected people could be provided at an earliest.(KNS)
