Anantnag, May 24 (KNS) : In response to mounting public outrage and fresh allegations of medical negligence, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kokernag has cancelled the permission granted to Paras Hospital Srinagar for holding a medical camp in Kokernag. The event was scheduled for May 26 at the Municipal Committee Meeting Hall.
The cancellation, issued via order No. SDM/KNG/2025-26/789-95 on May 24, comes shortly after the reported death of 34-year-old Waseem Ahmed Pathan, a resident of Pampore who had recently returned from Saudi Arabia. His family claims he died due to negligent post-operative care at the hospital, despite paying Rs 5 lakh for treatment.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Angry protests broke out at the hospital premises, with demonstrators accusing the institution of misdiagnosis, overcharging, and serious lapses in patient care. Many labeled the hospital a "slaughterhouse" and called for strict action against the doctors and management.
The SDM’s order revoked the earlier permission granted on May 23 (Order No. SDM/KNG/2025-26/759-65) and instructed police and municipal authorities to ensure immediate enforcement. The move reflects growing concerns over the hospital’s functioning and accountability.(KNS)
