Srinagar, Dec 26 (KNS): Peoples Conference leader Sheikh Imran on Friday questioned Mirwaiz Umar Farooq over the removal of the “Chairman, All Parties Hurriyat Conference” title from his X (formerly Twitter) profile, asking whether it represents just a name change or a surrender of ideology.
In a post on X, Sheikh Imran wrote, “Could you — @MirwaizKashmir sb please clarify? Is this just a change of name or a complete change or surrender of ideology? This question will haunt you everywhere. Today, tomorrow and long after. Dodging the question won’t make it disappear.”
He added that “nomenclature is not ideology” and asserted that while labels, titles, and biographies can be changed, responsibility cannot be erased.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Sheikh Imran urged Mirwaiz to answer directly whether the move signifies a mere rebranding or a full ideological surrender.
The remarks come after Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, citing pressure from authorities removed the Hurriyat chairman title from his X profile.
He said the decision was made to maintain access to the platform, which remains a key avenue to communicate with the public amid restricted public spaces.(KNS).
