Zonal Level Firing Competition Concludes at CTC Lethpora

Lethpora, Dec 25 (KNS): The Zonal Level Firing Competition concluded successfully today at the Counter Terrorism Centre (CTC) Lethpora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, bringing to a close a skill-driven and training-oriented event focused on precision firing and weapon handling.

The closing ceremony saw certificates being awarded to winners and outstanding performers across multiple weapon categories. The awards were presented by the chief guest, DIG IRP Range Kashmir, Junaid Mahmood, IPS, who congratulated the top performers for their achievements and commended the overall discipline and professionalism displayed during the competition.

Addressing the gathering, DIG Mahmood underscored the importance of such events in strengthening firing capabilities within the police force. He said that structured competitions serve as a vital tool to sharpen operational skills, improve accuracy, and encourage continuous learning among officers and personnel.

The competition witnessed notable performances in different weapon segments. Gh. Hassan-SP JKPS, serving as Deputy Commandant IRP 23rd Battalion, secured the first position in the AK-47 category.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelMeanwhile, Ashiq Hussain Tak-SSP, Deputy Commandant IRP 6th Battalion, emerged as the top performer in the pistol segment.

In the INSAS rifle category, Selection Grade Constable Farooq Ahmad of IRP 23rd Battalion clinched the first position, while Head Constable Surinder Singh of JKAP 14th Battalion stood first in the JVPC category. Farooq Ahmad also secured the overall first position, marking him as the highest-scoring participant of the event.

The competition saw participation from officers and personnel from different police battalions, reflecting a collective push toward structured training and professional improvement. Officials present at the event highlighted that such competitions encourage both skill enhancement and team discipline across ranks.

The ceremony concluded with a formal vote of thanks, reiterating the force’s commitment to continue organizing similar training-focused events in the future to support operational preparedness and professional growth, they added.(KNS)
