Six Dead, Four Injured in Kathua Fire Incident

 Jammu, Dec 18 (KNS): Six people, including two children, lost their lives, and four others were injured in a tragic fire incident at a residential house in Shiva Nagar, Kathua. The incident occurred at midnight and was reportedly caused by a lamp in a rented room, officials said. 

According to reports, the fire broke out in ward number 16 and spread rapidly, leading to severe suffocation from the smoke. The victims were rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Kathua, but were declared brought dead. 

The deceased have been identified as Avatar Krishan (81), Ganga Bhagat (17), Danish Bhagat (15), Barkha Raina (25), Takash Raina (3), and Advik Raina (4). 

Four individuals—Swarna (61), Neetu Devi (40), Arun Kumar, and Kewal Krishan (69)—sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at the hospital.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel 

Principal GMC Kathua, Dr. Surinder Atri, revealed that the deceased included members of a family associated with a recently retired Assistant Matron of GMC. He confirmed that the fire, which reportedly started around 2 a.m. due to a lamp (jot) in the pooja room, caused smoke suffocation, leading to the fatalities. He added that there were no burn injuries on the deceased and that the injured are in stable condition. 

Authorities are investigating the incident to determine further details. (KNS)
