Srinagar, Jan 4 (KNS): The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has assured residents of its readiness to manage snowfall this winter with an upgraded fleet of machinery and a well-structured action plan.
With jurisdiction over 1,500 kilometers of roads and 5,500 lanes and bylanes, the SMC has streamlined its snow clearance strategy. Major roads will be cleared using mechanical equipment, while manual efforts will focus on lanes and bylanes.
Highlighting the corporation’s swift response to recent snowfall, the commissioner stated, “Our teams and machinery were deployed immediately to ensure minimal disruption.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”
To tackle waterlogging, the SMC has put 127 drainage pumps into operation across the city. Additionally, modern tools such as 4x4 machines have been stationed in each ward to clear narrow lanes, while semi-manual handheld snow blowers are being tested to improve efficiency.
Reassuring the public, the commissioner emphasized, “Our control room and social media channels remain active for assistance. The SMC is fully prepared, with teams on standby to handle any snowfall-related challenges.” (KNS)
