Sopore, Jan 14 (KNS) :
Continuing its sustained fight against the drug menace, Sopore Police apprehended a drug peddler during naka duty at Parray Mohallah, Hygam, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Tarzoo, and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
During naka checking, the police party noticed a suspicious individual coming from Tarzoo towards Hygam who attempted to flee on noticing the naka. The alert police party acted swiftly and apprehended him tactfully. Upon personal search, charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.

The accused has been identified as Musair Bashir, S/O Bashir Ahmad Reshi, R/O Veer Colony Aliebagh.
Accordingly, FIR No. 05/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo, and investigation has been taken up to trace the source and wider network involved.
Pertinent to mention that Sopore Police have registered five NDPS cases in the last three days. (KNS)
