Says Initiatives aim to transform police-public dynamic

Sopore, Jan 10 (KNS): Superintendent of Police (SP) Sopore, Iftikhar Talib, emphasized the commitment of the Jammu and Kashmir Police to community engagement beyond law enforcement through its Civic Action Program.

Speaking to Kashmir News Service (KNS) on the sidelines of a sporting event in Sopore, SP Talib outlined the program's objective of forging stronger connections with local youth and citizens. "The fundamental aim of these initiatives is to bridge the gap between the police and the public, transforming our role from a purely enforcement agency to a community partner," he stated.

The SP made these remarks during the final of a volleyball championship, organized as part of these outreach efforts. He saie that Sopore Police will continue and expand such community-centric programs throughout 2026. "We have a structured roadmap for the coming year to promote sports, cultural activities, and academic events including debates across the Sopore police district," Talib added.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He said that Sopore Police district encompasses two sub-divisions and in future programs will actively include the Rafiabad area. "Our 2026 sports blueprint explicitly integrates Rafiabad to ensure inclusive participation," the SP said.

Regarding the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, SP Talib assured that comprehensive security and logistical arrangements are being finalized for January 26. He also issued a public appeal for enthusiastic citizen participation in the national event.

On VPN ban, the SP clarified that measures are being implemented in accordance with a prohibitory order issued by the District Magistrate. He urged public compliance, warning that unauthorized use of restricted items would result in strict legal action. (KNS)
