Srinagar, Jan 11 (KNS): Cold wave conditions continued across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on Sunday, with several places recording biting sub-zero temperatures, according to data.

In the Kashmir region, Shopian emerged as the coldest spot at minus 8.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Pulwama at minus 7.7 degrees Celsius and Sopore at minus 7.7 degrees Celsius.

Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 7.6 degrees Celsius, while Anantnag dipped to minus 7.1 degrees Celsius. Srinagar, the summer capital, registered a minimum temperature of minus 5.2 degrees Celsius, while the airport area recorded minus 6.0 degrees Celsius.

Other parts of the Valley also experienced intense cold, with Gulmarg at minus 6.2 degrees Celsius, Kupwara at minus 5.6 degrees Celsius and Baramulla at minus 6.1 degrees Celsius.

In the Jammu region, night temperatures remained relatively higher but several areas still reported cold conditions.

Jammu city recorded a minimum of 4.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel0 degrees Celsius, while Bhaderwah registered minus 2.0 degrees Celsius. Rajouri recorded minus 1.6 degrees Celsius and Samba dipped to minus 0.7 degrees Celsius.

Udhampur recorded 0.8 degrees Celsius, while Batote and Ramban settled at 3.0 degrees Celsius and 2.3 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Ladakh continued to reel under extreme cold conditions. Drass, often referred to as one of the coldest inhabited places in the region, recorded a low of minus 24.5 degrees Celsius.

Padum registered minus 18.3 degrees Celsius, while Hanle dipped to minus 16.3 degrees Celsius. Leh recorded a minimum of minus 13.4 degrees Celsius, while Kargil settled at minus 12.3 degrees Celsius.

Meteorological officials said cold conditions are likely to persist in the coming days, with residents advised to take necessary precautions as temperatures remain well below normal in many areas.(KNS).
