Srinagar Airport conducts winter Preparedness dry run ahead of fog and snow season

Srinagar December 13 (KNS) Srinagar International Airport conducted a dry run on Saturday to test its readiness for the upcoming winter and snow season. The exercise focused on fog and low visibility operations, which often disrupt flights during harsh weather in the Kashmir valley.

The Airports Authority of India led the exercise in coordination with airline airport managers, CISF, ground handling agencies, the medical inspection unit, and other stakeholders. The aim was to check operational preparedness, inter agency coordination, and passenger handling during adverse weather.

Officials inspected terminal facilities to ensure passenger comfort in cold conditions. They checked heating systems, lighting, waiting areas, lounges, drinking water points, washrooms, seating capacity, and laptop charging stations. Authorities also reviewed manpower deployment and cleaning arrangements to handle peak winter traffic.

Teams reviewed standard operating procedures for fog and low visibility. They tested coordination between air traffic control, airlines, apron control, and terminal operations. Passenger facilitation during delays, diversions, and cancellations received special attention.
