Srinagar shivers at minus 3.1°C as cold wave tightens grip in Valley

 Srinagar, Nov 29(KNS): Large parts of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh continued to reel under intense cold as minimum temperatures recorded on Friday night plummeted below the freezing point in several areas, according to data compiled by Kashmir Weather.

In the Kashmir Valley, Srinagar recorded a low of -3.1°C, while Qazigund settled at -3.4°C. Tourist resorts also witnessed severe cold, with Pahalgam dropping to -5.2°C and Gulmarg to -1.3°C.

Pampore was among the coldest spots in the region at -6.0°C, followed by Zethan Rafiabad at -5.6°C. The Srinagar Airport and Awantipora touched -5.2°C and -5.0°C respectively.

Kupwara recorded -4.9°C, and Kokernag -1.6°C. The harshest conditions were reported at Zojila Pass, where the temperature plunged to -16.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel0°C.
In the Jammu division, night temperatures remained relatively mild but continued to fall.

Jammu and Jammu Airport each recorded 9.4°C, while Katra logged 8.6°C. Udhampur recorded 4.0°C, Batote 4.4°C, Kathua 7.8°C, and Rajouri 1.2°C. Bhaderwah slipped close to freezing at 0.4°C, while Banihal touched -0.3°C.

The cold wave also gripped Ladakh, where temperatures remained well below freezing. Kargil recorded -10.2°C, Leh -9.0°C, and Nubra Valley -8.5°C, signalling a prolonged spell of subzero conditions in the region.(KNS).
