Srinagar, Sep 7 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday imposed traffic restrictions on several key stretches in the summer capital, including Gupkar Road and routes leading to the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), in view of the inaugural ceremony of the 1st International Film Festival.
A traffic advisory issued by the Srinagar Traffic Police accessed news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) stated that no general vehicular movement would be allowed on Gupkar Road between 4 PM and 7 PM, with exemptions made only for invitees, participants, VIPs, and event staff.
At Badyari Chowk and Brein Chowk, movement towards SKICC and Nehru Park will remain closed for all except hotel guests and local residents. Vehicles bound for Nishat will be diverted via Gupkar and Hazratbal, while traffic coming from the Nishat-Harwan side will be rerouted through Hazratbal, the advisory said.

In a separate diversion arrangement, Nishat-bound traffic will also be channelised via Rainawari — Badyari-Rainawari-Hazratbal-Nishat — to ease congestion.
The restrictions, which came into effect from 4 PM, will remain in place for three hours till the conclusion of the inauguration function, police said.
In a relief measure, authorities said emergency vehicles would be permitted to take the shortest available route. Citizens have been urged to contact the Traffic Police Control Room at 103 for any assistance.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic City Srinagar, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, issued the advisory and expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to the public. (KNS)
