Jammu, Mar 3 (KNS ): Senior BJP leader Sunil Sharma launched a scathing attack on former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, rejecting the observance of Martyrs’ Day in Jammu and Kashmir.
In an exclusive chat with KNS, Sharma termed it "Traitors' Day" and blamed the Congress for allowing the National Conference (NC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to commemorate it as "Yom Shohada."
"Mahbooba Mufti Sahiba, what is called Martyrs' Day, we call it Traitors' Day. It was the mistakes of Congress that allowed NC and PDP to celebrate it as Yom Shohada. This is Traitors' Day. The king in the state who gave banks, schools, hospitals, and flood channels, was betrayed. Those who insulted and killed him can never be considered martyrs," said Sharma.
Taking a dig at Mehbooba Mufti, he invoked legendary freedom fighters and war heroes.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"Bhagat Singh Ji, Shaheed Major Somnath Sharma, Shaheed Maqbool Sherwani, Shaheed Brigadier Rajinder Singh—these are true martyrs. Mehbooba Mufti Sahiba, I think you will not find even three MLAs, nor three panchayat members to support this now. This chapter is closed, it is history now," he remarked.
He concluded with a direct message to the PDP chief, saying, "Mehbooba Ji, please listen to my advice—sit inside and watch TV."
Sharma’s remarks have ignited political controversy, highlighting the deep divide over historical narratives in Jammu and Kashmir. While the BJP has consistently dismissed the observance of Martyrs' Day, NC and PDP continue to honor it as a symbol of resistance. (KNS)
