Srinagar, Apr 21 (KNS): The Directorate of Floriculture Kashmir has announced that the Tulip Garden Srinagar will close for visitors from the evening of April 24, 2025. The garden, which opened its gates on March 26 this year, has recorded an impressive footfall of 8,14,727 visitors over a span of 26 days, according to official figures.
The closure decision was made following recommendations from the Tulip Committee, as per Communication No, a copy of which lies with KNS reads. FO/NMBG/GS-15/98 dated April 21, 2025. Asia’s largest tulip garden experienced an unprecedented rush of tourists this season, with the highest single-day footfall touching 81,352 on April 6. Another notable crowd of 70,430 was recorded on April 13, with a healthy mix of locals, domestic tourists, and international visitors enjoying the blooming spectacle.
Locals contributed significantly to the numbers, particularly on April 6 when 52,652 people from the region visited the garden. The season also saw an encouraging presence of international tourists, with 3,302 visiting during the bloom period and the highest single-day count of 447 being noted on April 12.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Located on the foothills of the Zabarwan range overlooking the Dal Lake, the Tulip Garden has become a symbol of Kashmir’s springtime charm and a key indicator of the region’s tourism revival. Officials expressed their gratitude to all visitors for their cooperation in maintaining the garden’s discipline and said the early closure will help protect the bulbs and prepare the garden for an even more vibrant season in 2026.
The garden drew massive crowds right from the opening week, when 1,11,565 visitors had already walked in by March 31. The peak week, between April 6 and April 12, saw 2,63,270 visitors exploring the blooming tulips. Even on the last counted day, April 20, as many as 20,319 people visited the garden.
With the gates set to close on April 24, the garden will reopen again with fresh blooms in spring 2026. (KNS)
