Sopore July 29 (KNS) : J&K Peoples Conference today organised a women convention at Tarzoo Sopore attended by a large number social and political activists. The convention was presided over by senior vice president JKPC and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil.
While addressing the convention Vakil said that women must emerge as a powerful voice in the socio-political sphere of J&K saying Peoples Conference is committed to encourage active and meaningful participation of women to address the challenges that have an impact on them and their future”.
“There is a dire need for ensuring greater participation of women in political set up of Jammu and Kashmir. It is imperative for women to have their voices heard and become partners in the decision-making process. PC is cognisant of the issues and hardships faced by the women in getting their voices heard. Vakil stressed on women folk not to suffer from inferiority complex, adding, it has been seen that women have more potential and capability as compared to men. "We always see woman dominating men in every field especially educational field and even in the political field also women are not lagging behind & they have proved there matter in administrating state," he said.
Abdul Gani Vakil expressed concern that UT Govt is all along ignoring the problems faced by women especially Anganwadi workers and helpers. "They are not being paid there salaries even months together thereby their families are making hardly both ends meet," Vakil said and demanded regularisation of Anganwardi workers and helpers. He also demanded release of their salaries without any delay.(KNS)
