JAMMU, APRIL 04:(KNS) Apni Party State General Secretary Vikram Malhotra and Women Wing President Namrta Sharma today launched the book "Queens of Kashmir: A Glimpse Of Kashmir's Women Rulers" here at Amar Singh Club, Jammu.
The authors of the book were Ajay Vaid and MS Samta Sharma.
Ajay Vaid is a Ph.D. Research Scholar in political science at RIMT University in Punjab, India. Prior to this book, he also published the book "Utopianism in Politics" as author and several books as co-author, MS Namrta Sharma is currently serving as Assistant professor in the Department of History in Government Degree College for Boys, Udhampur, Jammu, (J&K).
She is also serving as the Head of Department there. Apart from a long journey of teaching experience, she is very much active in academic writings.
The book, as the title suggests, sheds light on Kashmir's women rulers. This work is a small attempt to acknowledge women's valor, strength, and magnanimity, which have been clearly visible but are still invisible. Centuries have passed, yet the position of women is unlikely to change.
Time has passively watched women suffer as a result of discrimination, oppression, exploitation, degradation, aggressiveness, and humiliation. Women are typically usually portrayed as subtle, gentle, and submissive, but those who believe that women cannot be recognized for their valor are unkind and naive.

However, they are typically treated as a homogeneous group on the periphery of history, unimportant to the main historical narrative. However, when the sources are examined, a completely different picture emerges.
In Kashmir, women have had more equal status with men than in other parts of the world. Many times, women have stood alongside men as powerful rulers, regents of princes, vivacious militia commanders, diplomats. There are ample shreds of evidence regarding the laudable women of Kashmir.
The launch session was attended by Vikram Malhotra (State General Secretary, Apni Party), Namrta Sharma (State President Women Wing), JKAP) Samta Sharma (Head of Department, History, GDC Boys, Udhampur, Jammu, J&K), MS Nirlape Kour (Head of Department, Political Science, GDC, Purmandal, Jammu, J&K), Shalini Mahajan (Principal, Mother Care School, Jammu).
The launch was also attended by well-known people from the Academic world. The event was organised by Sushant Gupta (President, Jammu East Development Forum). Others who were present on the occasion include Jyoti Vaid, Vice-President provincial women wing, Amrit Choudhary, Meenu Sharma and Sapna Gill.(KNS)
