Waheed Parra Demands Restoration of Holidays, Relocation of Jailed J&K Youth

Srinagar, Mar 5 (KNS): PDP leader Waheed Parra on Tuesday demanded the restoration of holidays on July 31 and December 5 in Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking in the J&K Assembly, he also urged that youth from the region, currently lodged in jails outside the Union Territory, be shifted to local prisons.

Parra, citing his own experience of facing two UAPA cases, stressed the hardships faced by detainees and their families due to incarceration outside J&K. His demand was seconded by People’s Conference chief Sajad Lone, who sought support from a National Conference MLA on the issue.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The demand for the relocation of prisoners has been a longstanding concern, with families often facing difficulties in meeting their incarcerated relatives. The call for the restoration of holidays on July 31, marking the death anniversary of former J&K PM Sheikh Abdullah, and December 5, his birth anniversary, has also been raised earlier by various political groups.
