Urges CM for Immediate Restoration of Services

Srinagar Dec 18:(KNS)Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youth President and MLA Pulwama, Waheed Ur Rehman Parra on Wednesday visited the Divisional Workshop and Receiving Station of the Power Development Department (PDD) in Pulwama, where a massive fire tragically destroyed several transformers awaiting repair. In a statement issued, Parra said the incident has caused significant disruption to the electricity supply across multiple areas, leaving thousands of residents struggling in freezing winter conditions.

Parra said that the massive fire at the Pulwama Divisional Workshop and Receiving Station had gutted several transformers awaiting repair. With the harsh winter season in full swing, urgent action is required to restore electricity in the affected areas and prevent further hardship for residents.

 

Parra inspected the site of the incident and assessed the damage caused by the fire, which gutted vital infrastructure and equipment at the workshop. Expressing deep concern, he said, “This is a crucial time for our people. The fire has caused immense damage, leaving several areas in darkness. The residents are already grappling with the challenges of harsh winters, and this incident has only worsened their struggles.”

 

He asserted that more than 30 villages are currently facing power cuts as a result of the fire, severely impacting their daily lives. Parra urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to immediately intervene and take steps to alleviate the suffering of the people, emphasizing the urgent need for swift and effective action to restore power to the affected areas.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe requested the Chief Minister to expedite measures and ensure electricity restoration at the earliest.

 

He also urged government to prioritize investments in upgrading and maintaining critical facilities like the PDD workshop to avert similar crises in the future.

 

Calling for immediate measures, Parra said, “The immediate restoration of essential electricity supply, along with additional transformers and materials, will ensure that people are not left in the cold. The administration must act swiftly to bring the situation under control and provide relief to the affected households.”

 

During his visit, Parra interacted with the workshop staff and locals, assuring them of his full support and proactive efforts to resolve the crisis. He added that the incident had disrupted power supply to key areas, including households, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions.

 

Meanwhile, Parra also visited several villages in Pulwama Constituency to understand the firsthand challenges of people amid harsh winter. During his visit, he listened to their concerns and assured them of his support. Speaking on the occasion, Parra said, “We are working towards resolving the issues they face and ensuring that progress reaches every corner.”(KNS)
