Srinagar, Jan 10 (KNS): Ahead of the Assembly session scheduled to commence next month, the newly elected Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Budgam, Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi, has vowed to uphold the trust bestowed upon him by his constituents.
Speaking exclusively to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Mehdi stated, "I will fulfil the responsibilities the people have given me in the Assembly. I will raise the aspirations, fundamental issues, and genuine sentiments of the people in the forum and address their problems so that they can be resolved."
MLA underscored the longstanding development deficit in the Budgam constituency. "I will highlight in the Assembly the deprivation faced by the people of Budgam regarding their civic rights—be it roads, water supply, electricity, or healthcare. I will question the government on what compulsion has kept Budgam neglected until today," he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He lamented that even in the modern era, residents of Budgam lack access to clean drinking water, adequate healthcare, proper roads, and quality education. He said that this persists despite Budgam's proximity, being merely eight kilometres from Srinagar city.
MLA Budgam also criticised the one year tenure of the National Conference (NC), stating the public is deeply disappointed with its performance. "The people gave them a huge mandate, but unfortunately, the Omar Abdullah-led government failed completely to meet public expectations. Instead, it added to the sufferings of common people," Mehdi asserted.
He said the persistent electricity crisis as the most glaring example. "Even today, people are not receiving proper electricity supply. The NC was unable to provide any relief to the people in a single sphere," he added. (KNS)
