Srinagar, February 7 (KNS): Mudasir Karim, President of Youth JKPC, has expressed deep concern over the abysmal service quality rating of Srinagar International Airport, which has been ranked the lowest among 15 airports surveyed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). This comes at a critical time when Kashmir is preparing to host the Khelo India Winter Games in mid-February, bringing in athletes, officials, and sports enthusiasts from across the country.
“It is deeply disappointing that Srinagar Airport, the gateway to paradise, has received the only negative rating in the latest Airport Service Quality (ASQ) assessment. With the Khelo India Games just around the corner, sportspersons traveling to Kashmir will be greeted with poor facilities, long queues, inadequate assistance, and hygiene issues. This is not the impression we want to give to national and international visitors,” said Karim.

The persistent complaints about lack of proper amenities, poor staff behavior, and infrastructure issues must be addressed on a war footing.
“We urge the concerned authorities to take immediate action to improve the facilities at Srinagar Airport. The government must ensure that visitors—whether tourists, sportspersons, or business travelers—are welcomed with world-class services, not mismanagement and inconvenience,” Karim added.
