Srinagar, Apr 14 (KNS): Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar expressed resentment against the administration for once again imposing restrictions on Friday prayers on the occasion of Jummat-ul-Vida.
Anjuman in a statement said that large number of people visited Jama Masjid to offer Friday prayer for the first three Fridays of the holy month, but today, suddenly at 09:30 am, without giving any reason administration and police personnel came to Jama Masjid and asked the Auqaf to close the mosque and lock its gates.
“One fails to understand the reason behind this abrupt and arbitrary restriction. On the important occasion of Jummat-ul-Vida, as per practise thousands of people from all the districts and towns of the valley used to come to the Jama Masjid with great devotion and love but unfortunately, today for the 4th consecutive year Jumatul vida prayers were disallowed,” reads the statement.
Meanwhile, a resolution compiled by the Jammu & Kashmir Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema was also issued.
The resolution appealed to the people that their welfare and well-being lie in staying connected with religion and emphasises upon them that the Eid-ul-Fitr should be celebrated with simplicity in line with Islamic values and traditions.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
