Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam pays glowing tribute to Prof Rehman Rahi, says his demise marks the end of an era

Srinagar, Jan 10 (KNS) : Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of the doyen of Kashmiri language and literature, a leading and renowned poet, writer and eminent intellectual Professor Rehman Rahi Sahib who passed away yesterday after a prolonged illness.


In its condolence message, the Anjuman on behalf of the institution and its incarcerated president Mirwaiz Umar Farooq paid glowing tribute to Prof Rehman Rahi Sahib for his educational, teaching, literary and poetic services spanning several decades.

Describing the contribution of Prof Rehman Rahi Sahib as unforgettable, the Anjuman said the demise of the legendary poet and writer marks the end of an era.

Prof Rehman Rahi Sahib started his educational career at Islamia School Rajouri Kadal, one of the first educational institutions in Kashmir run by the Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam, the statement said, adding that after acquiring knowledge, he rendered teaching services in the institution for a long period of time; and as an honorable and active member of the Anjuman for a long period, he played a positive role in furthering the educational cause of the institution.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The Anjuman said that Prof Rehman Rahi Sahib had a great deep association with the Mirwaiz Family, and had a special relationship and allegiance with the late president of the Anjuman, “Wali-e-Kamil” Mirwaiz Moulana Ateequllah Shah Sahib.

Terming the demise as a great loss to the literary world, the Anjuman on behalf of its incarcerated president Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq and all the executive members of the institution, expressed heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the deceased’s children Dr Dildar Mir, Dr Javed Iqbal and Mr Farhat Hussain.

The Anjuman stands with them in these moments of grief and prayed to Almighty Allah to grant Jannat-ul-Firdous to Prof Rehman Rahi Sahib and patience to the bereaved family. (KNS)
