Sumbal, March 4 (KNS): Bandipora Police on Monday organized an awareness program on the newly introduced criminal laws at Dak Bungalow Sumbal. The event was aimed at educating the public about key changes in the legal system and ensuring better awareness among citizens.
The program was chaired by DIG North Kashmir Range, Maqsood Ul Zaman, with SSP Bandipora, Harmeet Singh, and other senior police officers also present.
A large gathering of youth and local residents actively participated in the session.
Speaking on the occasion, DIG Maqsood Ul Zaman emphasized that the new criminal laws are more victim-centric and focus on swift justice delivery. “These laws have been framed with a focus on protecting victims and making the legal system more responsive. It is crucial for the public, especially the youth, to be aware of their rights and responsibilities under these laws,” he said.
He further added that Bandipora Police will continue organizing such awareness programs to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the public, fostering better coordination in maintaining peace and security.
Local residents appreciated the initiative, calling it an important step in spreading legal awareness. The event concluded with an interactive session where participants discussed various aspects of the new criminal laws with senior police officers. (KNS)
