Srinagar, Feb 17 (KNS): Senior National Conference (NC) leader and former minister Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan launched a scathing attack on a political opponent, questioning the sudden outrage over the transfer of a government employee who had been stationed at the same place for nearly two decades.
In a statement, Ch. Ramzan criticized the attempt to portray the routine administrative transfer as a crisis. “How does the transfer of an employee who has remained at a particular place for nearly two decades suddenly become a crisis? Transfers are a routine administrative process and have occurred under every government, including your tenure as a minister under the BJP quota and during the LG administration. So why this sudden outrage now?" he questioned.
He further challenged his opponent to explain how the transfer violated any policy and accused him of creating unnecessary drama for vested interests. "Instead of making a spectacle, explain your desperation to keep this person stationed there. What agenda does this serve?" he asked.
Ramzan also addressed allegations of corruption, urging his opponent to introspect before making accusations. "Before pointing fingers at others, you should look at your own record," he remarked.
The senior NC leader also lashed out at his opponent for invoking Article 370, reminding him of his past political alliances. “You talk about Article 370, but let me remind you—you have no moral right to even mention it. The erosion of Article 370 began post-1954 and its complete abrogation happened when you openly allied with the BJP. Stop fooling the people—they see through your deception," Ramzan asserted.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Reaffirming the NC’s stand, he stated, “The National Conference stands firm on its principles and will never dilute its stance. The first order of business for the NC government was to pass a resolution for the restoration of special status, and you were a part of those proceedings. As per the assembly’s business rules, once a resolution has been passed, it cannot be tabled or deliberated again. Stop trying to mislead the people—they are not as naive as you think.”
Ramzan did not hold back in questioning the political credibility of his opponent’s party, accusing it of ideological inconsistency. “First, clarify your party’s ideology—what does it even stand for? The truth is, it stands for nothing! Your party has been switching sides—first with Congress, then Janata Dal, then forming People’s Conference and its militant outfit Al-Barq during the turmoil. Later, you aligned with the BJP, joined the PAGD when it suited your interests, and now, during the recent parliamentary elections, you were propped up by the BJP with massive financial and administrative backing. They didn’t even bother fielding a candidate from the north parliamentary seat—handing you a free pass,” he alleged.
Concluding his statement, Ramzan declared that a party with no consistent ideology and a history of shifting allegiances in pursuit of power and money had no right to lecture others.
His remarks have added fuel to the ongoing political debate in Jammu and Kashmir, as the region braces for a crucial political showdown in the coming months.(KNS)
