Cold wave tightens grip across J&K, Ladakh as temperatures plunge

Srinagar, Nov 26 (KNS): Minimum temperatures across Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh continued to fall on Wednesday, with several areas in the Valley recording sub-zero conditions as the cold wave further intensified.

In the Kashmir region, Srinagar settled at –3.9°C, while Baramulla recorded one of the lowest temperatures at –5.9°C. Shopian remained the coldest in the Valley at –6.2°C, followed by Pulwama at –5.8°C and Pampore and Anantnag at –5.5°C each. Pahalgam dropped to –4.6°C, Kupwara to –4.0°C, and Qazigund to –3.4°C. In the Jammu region, temperatures remained comparatively milder, with Jammu city and Katra recording 8.8°C and 8.5°C respectively. Banihal was the coldest in the division at –0.7°C, while Bhaderwah settled at 0.5°C and Rajouri at 2.6°C. Other major towns, including Udhampur, Ramban, Samba and Kathua, remained between 3°C and 8°C.

Ladakh continued to face severe winter conditions as Leh recorded –8.2°C, Kargil –9.0°C and Nubra –6.8°C.(KNS)
