Jammu, Mar 5 (KNS): The Division Bench (DB) of the High Court, comprising Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan and Justice M.A. Chowdhary, on Wednesday expressed strong displeasure over the failure of the Union Territories (UTs) of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh to submit their response regarding healthcare deficiencies in rural areas.
During the hearing of PIL No. 16/2018, titled Balwinder Singh v/s UT of J&K & Ors., Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed highlighted the recent incident of a tribal woman giving birth on the roadside in broad daylight in Inderwal Constituency of District Kishtwar.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe emphasized the urgent need for improved healthcare infrastructure in rural regions.
The DB noted that despite clear directions issued on February 4, 2025, both UTs had failed to respond to the petitioner’s suggestions for strengthening healthcare services. Expressing anguish over their non-serious approach, the court warned that if the required response is not submitted within two weeks, the Administrative Secretaries of both UTs must appear in person before the bench on March 24, 2025.
