Srinagar, Feb 28 (KNS): Parts of the Kashmir valley, including Srinagar, Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and Pahalgam, received fresh snowfall on Friday, bringing joy to tourists but causing significant disruptions.
While the higher reaches experienced moderate to heavy snowfall, the weather impacted air and road services. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) cleared the snow on the Srinagar airport runway, allowing flight operations to resume after being temporarily halted.
On Thursday, heavy snow led to the closure of several roads, including the Srinagar-Leh highway and the Srinagar-Jammu national highway.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelTraffic was halted from both the Sonamarg and Kargil sides, with conditions to improve before any further clearance.
Other high-altitude areas, including Razdan Top, Gurez, Sadhna Top, and Mughal Road, also experienced fresh snowfall, while the Zojila Pass, Sinthan Top, and Amarnath Cave were also affected. According to the India Meteorological Department, light to moderate snowfall is expected to continue until Friday noon, with the weather likely improving thereafter. (KNS)
