Shopian, March 21 (KNS): Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, on Friday reaffirmed the commitment of law enforcement agencies to take strict action against individuals involved in narco-terrorism in the Union Territory.
Speaking to media persons after holding a Public Darbar in South Kashmir’s Shopian district, DGP Prabhat said those engaged in drug-related activities would be dealt with firmly under the law.
Responding to a question on the potential rise in infiltration due to the melting of snow, he chose not to speculate. “Let us not make predictions like the meteorological department,” he remarked.
Referring to a viral video purportedly showing a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) allegedly assaulting a woman in Qazigund, DGP Prabhat informed that an inquiry has been initiated.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelA committee headed by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Kashmir is investigating the matter, with findings expected within ten days. “Three days have already passed. We request people not to give the incident any communal or religious angle,” he urged.
During the Thana Diwas event at Keller Tehsil in Shopian, locals raised concerns about the frequent stoppage of fruit-laden trucks at Qazigund. They said the delays are causing spoilage of cold-stored apples and resulting in heavy financial losses for farmers and traders. DGP Prabhat assured that the issue will be addressed on priority to prevent further economic hardship for the local fruit industry. (KNS)
