Drung in Gulmarg Reopens for Tourists, Boosting Winter Tourism Hopes

Srinagar, Nov 22 (KNS): After remaining closed for several months due to security concerns, the popular tourist destination Drung in Gulmarg is set to reopen for visitors tomorrow, bringing fresh hope to the tourism sector ahead of the winter season.

The closure of Drung and other key tourist spots followed heightened security threats after a major terror attack in Pahalgam in April 2025. However, following positive security assessments by both civil and police administration, authorities have now approved the reopening of Drung in Tangmarg.

Officials said all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure the safety of tourists, especially as the region prepares for the peak winter tourism period, which attracts large numbers of visitors every year.

Chairman of JK Hoteliers Club, Mushtaq Chaya, and President of CCIK, Tariq Ghani, welcomed the decision and praised the government’s efforts in strengthening tourism infrastructure and restoring confidence among visitors.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThey expressed gratitude to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, along with the police and civil administration, for their role in reopening the destination.
