ECI Begins Groundwork for J&K Assembly Elections

Srinagar, Aug 8 (KNS): The Election Commission of India (ECI) has arrived in Srinagar to assess the readiness for the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. The full commission, including Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and two election commissioners, landed at Srinagar airport this morning and proceeded directly to the Sher-I-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC).

The commission's visit is a crucial step in the electoral process, as they will be meeting various stakeholders, including representatives of several political parties. Prominent political parties, such as the National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party, Bharatiya Janata Party, and Bahujan Samaj Party, have sent their representatives to the SKICC to engage with the ECI team.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Speaking to the media at SKICC, senior BJP leader Ranbir Singh Pathania expressed optimism about the upcoming elections. He emphasized the importance of a high voter turnout, stating, "We want free and fair elections with massive participation of the people. It is crucial for the people of Jammu and Kashmir to elect their own government for the region's betterment." (KNS)
