Iltija Mufti Slams Police Over Kathua Killings, Calls for Impartial Probe

Jammu, March 10 (KNS): People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti has criticized the police for their handling of the recent killings of three civilians, including a 14-year-old boy, in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. She has demanded a fair and impartial investigation into the incident.

Expressing concern over the conduct of law enforcement, Mufti alleged that the police were not acting neutrally. She pointed out that while BJP leaders were granted access to visit Billawar, she and her team were denied permission. "We wanted to visit Billawar, but BJP leaders were allowed to go while we were stopped. This raises serious questions about the neutrality of the police," she said.

Mufti further questioned police claims that the situation was under control, stating that the killings contradict such assurances.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"If everything is normal, then how are such incidents happening? The fear among people suggests otherwise," she remarked.

Referring to her earlier visit to Billawar, she mentioned that locals had expressed greater fear of the police than militants. "I'm not saying that everyone in the force is the same, but incidents like these damage their reputation. Being a border district, law enforcement should be more vigilant," she added.

She stressed that responsibility lies with the police to prevent such tragedies, urging them to be more cautious in their approach. "Policing requires vigilance and accountability. Unfortunately, it seems the police are struggling to fulfill their duty properly," Mufti said. (KNS)
